4,000 parking tickets issued in Milwaukee during overnight snow removal

February 5, 2018

The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works issued 4,368 citations for cars in violation of Operation Winter Parking rules over the weeked, according to a DPW spokesperson.

In the past, Milwaukee residents have been confused by the four-inch rule parking regulation. After getting rid of the rule, DPW called for an Overnight Snow Removal Operation for Saturday and Sunday night.

Residents who park on a Milwaukee street overnight are encouraged to check the parking restrictions, sign up for Snow Mobile Winter Text Alert messages or emails, and read the posted street signs. The consequence of failure to move a vehile during DPW operations is a $40 citation and a possible tow.

DPW will notify residents once the streets have been cleared and the operation has ended, and regular overnight parking regulations will resume.
