Top 40 Trending Songs in Milwaukee (4/15/19)

Which artist has a song at both number 1 and 2?

April 15, 2019
Marshmello + JMatt

Well, that didn’t take long – our number one artist this week also has the number 2 song… which is a remix of the chart-topper, but it counts. Aside from that, a new magically delicious music video is out for one of the top 10 songs and which artist stopped by as a special guest during Coachella for weekend 1? Well, there were several really… and no, I’m not thinking of *NSYNC for this reference (I see you, Ariana!).

11. Sam Smith + Normani – Dancing With A Stranger

10. Mabel – Don’t Call Me Up

Mabel is a third-generation charted artist - her mother (Neneh Cherry) had 5 Hot 100s and her grandfather (Don Cherry) was a Jazz trumpeter with a few hits. You may not be familiar with either, but Mabel's Uncle - Eagle-Eye Cherry, yeah, that's a name you probably recognize. Eagle-Eye Cherry scored the number 5 slot for his song "Save Tonight" with Billboard's Hot 100. Now Mabel gets to join the family on the Hot 100 chart with her hit song, "Don't Call Me Up"!

9. Meek Mill ft. Drake - Going Bad

Could more music (possibly an EP) be on the way from Meek Mill? In a tweet yesterday, he teases a new project may be in the works. But like Taylor Swift's April 26 tease - we really have no idea what's coming.

8. Calboy – Envy Me

In an interview with Genius, Calboy credits the rise of "Envy Me" to TikTok's dance challenge around his song. “I knew [Envy Me> was going to hit a wide range of people when I seen the kids, the babies dancing. I see the old people dancing to it. Different races dancing to it.”

7. Marshmello ft. CHVRCHES – Here With Me

Among the many great performances to catch at weekend 1 of Coachella was CHVRCHES. If you happened to be there live (or catch the live stream) you would have seen Marshmello make a surprise guest appearance to play guitar for "Here With Me".

6. Ellie Goulding + Diplo ft. Swae Lee – Close To Me

Let's talk about Swae Lee's new face tattoo for a second. I just don't get it. Face tattoos, really? The only guy I'd say can pull it off is Mike Tyson. Swae Lee has a full chest tattoo and sleeves going - I'm sure he's running out of room for featured tattoos. Question, how many face tattoos will he go for? Just the one, or more?

New face tatt bitch !

5. Lil Peep + ILoveMakonnen ft. Fall Out Boy – I’ve Been Waiting

The official music video for this song dropped last week and it was inspired by the late rapper, Lil Peep. At the beginning of the video, the dedication reads, “Dedicated to all those people that want to feel magic around them. And also to Peep, who inspired this magic.” I'd like to think they included Lil Peep in the magical creatures throughout the video.

4. Post Malone – Wow.

Ever wonder where Post Malone's name came from? Because like many famous musicians, it's not his real name (*gasp* I know right?!). Post is actually his last name (Austin Richard Post is his real name, not very Rap-star like, is it?). Post later admitted to using a "Rap name generator" to land on Malone. Great, and I used to just use my old street address to make up my Rap-persona (JMatt Somerset, yeah, not nearly as catchy)!

3. Dean Lewis – Be Alright

Dean Lewis is all over the place lately, he recently appeared on "Live with Kelly and Ryan" and performed "Waves". He also recorded a raw, 1-take, no-edits acoustic version of his song "7 Minutes". There's something about an authentic recording of a song that pulls my attention.

2. Lil Nas X ft. Billy Ray Cyrus – Old Town Road (Remix)

The Academy of Country Music recently named Keith Urban the Entertainer of the Year, with that notoriety (not that he didn't already have it) perhaps the fact that he did a remix of "Old Town Road" too, will help everyone accept it as a Country song now! Country critics, it's time to give in, this song isn't going anywhere - it's yours now and forever!

1. Lil Nas X – Old Town Road

Last week "Old Town Road" had 46.6 million streams in a week, just 7 days later the song breaks the record as the most-streamed song with 143 million streams (a record previously held by Drake's "In My Feelings"). There's no denying the heat around this viral hit - unless you're the Country charts (whoops), but with Billy Ray Cyrus' remix, that should change in no time!
