10 First Date Ideas in Milwaukee

Perfect for anytime

February 12, 2019

As a single guy, I am constantly trying to come up with unique date ideas that stand out from the standard ‘coffee and drinks’ first-date (which seems to be a common go-to for people meeting offline for the first time). To me, grabbing coffee together gets boring after the first time. I know it’s about the conversation and getting to know the other person, but let’s shake it up a little with a fun activity.

Do you know what women find attractive? When their date has a plan, so here are 10 plans you can make reservations for now. While I am suggesting these ideas first dates in Milwaukee, many of these ideas would work well for any date night (regardless if you’re in a budding relationship or have been married for years).

If you’re looking to create a truly memorable first date, consider throwing axes together for 90 minutes! Ring the bell (or don’t) after each bullseye. They have a bar too, grab a drink and breathe in the fresh smell of woodchips. Fun fact, my date overextended and hit herself in the back of the head, gave herself a nice big bump… like I said, it’s a memorable first date (yes, she was alright and no, we’re not still dating) – I seriously have no idea how she managed to do that!

2. Nine Below

How about a little putt-putt? For this 2-hour date, you’ll get to show your creative side as you and your date are assigned to a hole and get to set up the challenge for the other teams to try. Pick from a wide variety of props and hazards then try your luck at everyone else’s creation. Play for fun or keep score, it’s up to you. This spot also has a bar that serves specialty shots in golf balls.

5. Slice of Ice at Red Arrow Park (summer alternative: Bradford Beach)

During these colder months, take advantage of Red Arrow Park and take your date ice skating! If you’re already an avid skater, ice skating is free when you bring your own skates but rentals are available too. If you’re reading this in the summer, an alternative would be to grab a frisbee or volleyball and head down to Bradford Beach.

Another Bonus Idea: Up-Down

Because I like you, let’s give you a dozen ideas. Up-Down is an arcade bar that opened in Milwaukee over the summer of 2018. They have classic arcade games and pinball machines. They also have a few old school consoles throughout the bar and my favorite, giant Jenga (or connect four).
